SMALL SUMMER COTTAGE

Photographer: Stephanie Helguera @stephanie_helguera

We wanted it to feel like Summer year round in this cozy home consisting of two separate cottages united by an olive tree lined courtyard.  White washed rafters contrast with the wide plank reclaimed floors that were acquired from a carefully dismantled barn in Iowa. Hand made doors and windows that recess into the walls frame the outside in the way that a Wyeth painting frames a landscape. We were drawn to proportionally larger pieces, a roll top arts and crafts desk, a big commerical stove, two overstuffed arm chairs that lend a feeling of rottedness to the tiny cottage.
